Fishlove Photos by Denis Rouvre
Fishlove, a controversial photography project focused on sustainable fishing, has entered a third year of production with a series of photographs by Denis Rouvre. Brighton restauranteur Nicholas Röhl and actress Greta Scacchi worked with British photographer Rankin in 2011 to produce the first series, following up with Alan Gelati in 2012. This year’s campaign focuses on concerns about French deep-sea bottom trawling in European waters, a practice that is wiping out deep sea ecosystems the size of London every day. Online at www.fishlove.co.uk, the campaign encourages signatures of a petition at www.avaaz.org/Fishlove. The collection, photographed by French portrait photographer Denis Rouvre, includes images of Gillian Anderson, Olivia Williams, Goldie and a number of French celebrities posing with fish. The European Parliament on Tuesday December 10 sided voted against an overall ban on deep-sea trawling, but agreed to restrict some of the worst excesses of the practice such as trawling in areas with ecosystems most at risk.
